INTRODUCTION

Luis Carlos Moro Gonzalez is Group Matarromera´s President and Founder. Born in Valladolid in 1953, this Engineer Agronomist is, above all, a wine lover.

His family has always been linked to the vineyard and wine. His ancestors were pioneers in planting vineyards in Olivares and Valbuena de Duero, villages considered today as the most prestigious area of Ribera del Duero.

In 1988 he decided to turn around his personal and professional life, and he started to build a company which since then, he has dedicated his body and soul to. In 1988, in Valbuena de Duero, Matarromera was created.

Since then, his infinite passion for wine and everything around it has resulted in a constant quest to give to this land, and the Duero River back everything they have given to him before. As a result, since the late 90s and until now, Matarromera group is much more than a winery, because on its structure there can be found six other different wineries: Rento and Emina in Ribera del Duero, Valdelosfrailes (PDO Cigales), Cyan (PDO Toro) and Emina Medina (PDO Rueda), in addition to the small Emina Oxto dedicated to the production of the first fortified wine in Castile and Leon.

In addition, Carlos Moro continued building his dream with the creation of the Destilerias del Duero, the only one throughout Ribera del Duero, and started new projects, such as Emina olive oil, the first one of Valladolid, or EminaSIN, the first alcohol-free premium wine in Spain.

All this has been supported on a constant researcher quest that has become Matarromera Group a pioneer and leader in boosting R & D in its sector.

Carlos Moro is certainly a visionary, a revolutionary of his time, but above all a dreamer. A man who, more than 20 years ago, saw an horizon in which Group Matarromera should be a reference.

Two decades later, that dream has become true.
