For Carlos Moro, Matarromera is much more than a winery or a business group that encompasses the concepts of "Wine," "olive oil”, “wine tourism”, or “distilled and spirits". Matarromera is simply the culmination of a dream. A dream that began when he was a child and which finally has become true.
The start of Group Matarromera begins in 1988, when Carlos Moro, founder of the group, following the wine tradition of his ancestors, decided to renew the vineyard, and projected the construction of new winery with modern technology, retaining the traditional form of wine development incorporating all the elements of quality control in materials and processes. With these ideas Matarromera started.
Rento winery is located in a noble house of the sixteenth century that the Olivares Marquis built and it is located in Olivares de Duero. Rento is Carlos Moro’s most personal wine, and the name of the new wine that resurfaces from the bowels of the earth.
In 2005, the construction of Emina complex started in Valbuena de Duero. This winery capable of producing 1.000.000 bottles has become a centre, a pioneer in Wine tourism in Ribera del Duero, and it has become a tourist attraction in this area.
Valdelosfrailes winery is located in the town of Cubillas de Santa Marta, Valladolid. The winery is designed to create wines of the highest quality with meticulous preparation and a small quantity of production, with attractive red wines that throughout its history has garnered significant national and international awards.
Cyan Winery, located in the village of Valdefinjas has been one of the last wineries joining Group Matarromera.
It consists of three buildings, where the barrels rest, crowning a hill, from which breathtaking views of the region and its vineyards can be enjoyed.
The construction, in September 2007, of Emina Medina Winery, in Medina del Campo (Valladolid) in the DO Rueda represents a qualitative step forward in the development of Group Matarromera.
At Emina Medina they are developed the following references: Emina Rueda (90% Verdejo, 10% Viura), Emina Verdejo (100%) and Emina Sauvignon (100%). In addition Matarromera Group has launched the Emina Semidulce as well as Emina Gewüztraminer and Emina Chardonnay (fermented in barrel), completed with Emina sparkling wines.
EMINASIN (a product with a rate of 0.5% alcohol red, white and rose) is a pioneer in Spain and it is developed in the Molecular Deconstruction Plan in Valbuena de Duero,), thanks to the intensive research work begun more than three years ago.
EMINASIN is a product made with wine from the best grapes from the Duero area and, after a process of deconstruction, has reduced his alcohol level to only a 0.5% content. Moreover, its caloric content is 20 times lower than the one of a normal wine and 80 times lower than the one of musts.
After EminaSin becames EminaZero.
OxTO is the winery where the first fortified wine from the Ribera is being made. It has been prepared with 100% Tempranillo grapes and aged in French oak barrels for 3 years. A fortified wine, a different wine, for a different winery.
Destilerias del Duero was founded in San Bernardo (Valbuena de Duero), next to the Cistercian monastery of Santa Maria de Valbuena, located among the best wineries in the area to recover the ancient traditions. It is the only Distillery installed in the Ribera del Duero which produces brandies, liqueurs and high and low graduation spirits, exclusively from Ribera del Duero grape skins.
Carlos Moro decided not only to produce excellent and elegant wines. Olive oil is also a product that reaches the market under the exclusive Emina brand. It is a new trend that raises the potential, the quality and the image of Matarromera Group.
Aware of the enormous impact and volume that the group had reached, Carlos Moro made Matarromera pioneer in the concept of Wine Tourism in Castile and Leon. Today, all the wineries of the group can be visited, and in all of them all kinds of activities related to the world of wine can be enjoyed.
